The Royals acquired Johnny Cueto in a trade with Reds on Sunday, sending three prospects to the Reds for a ace for the front of their rotation.

The Royals also received cash considerations in the deal, which saw Kansas City send left-handers Brandon Finnegan, John Lamb and Cody Reed to Cincinnati.

Shortstop Dansby Swanson, the first overall pick in baseball's draft last month, agreed Friday to a $6.5M signing bonus with the Diampndbacks just before the deadline for him to reach a deal.

"It was pretty close, like probably the last 10, 15 minutes," said De Jon Watson, the Diamondbacks' senior vice president of baseball operations.

The Giants agreed to a minor league contract with infielder Everth Cabrera on Thursday, according to a report in the San Jose Mercury News.  

Cabrera will report to the rookie-level club in Arizona for a few days before joining the roster at Triple-A Sacramento. A switch hitter, he could play his way onto the major league roster and provide depth behind middle infielders Joe Panik and Brandon Crawford.
